Yunlu Zhu — bioRxiv Affiliate
bioRxiv | 2025-04-09
Yunlu Zhu has been a bioRxiv Affiliate since 2024. Yunlu is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Neuroscience Institute of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine (USA). He studies the neural circuits underlying balance control in the context of neurodegenerative diseases. He decided to become an Affiliate so that he could give back to the community, after having benefited from posting his own research on bioRxiv. In this interview, he shares why he enjoys being an Affiliate.
Why did you decide to join bioRxiv as an Affiliate?
Having benefited from sharing my work through bioRxiv, I want to give back to the biological science community.
How has bioRxiv and/or medRxiv helped you in your career?
bioRxiv allowed me to share my research early and learn about the latest studies in the field.
Why are you excited about being an Affiliate?
Being an Affiliate allows me to explore a list of newly submitted work from all biological fields. This unbiased look into different areas of research pushes me to think beyond my usual focus and keeps me inspired every day. I enjoy spending time at the start of my day checking newly submitted manuscripts, almost always finding interesting findings that spark ideas. By clicking "send live" I feel like I’m making connections with other researchers and sharing in their excitement of seeing their work online.
What's your favorite thing about bioRxiv and/or medRxiv?
I love the open, accessible vibe of bioRxiv and its ability to speed up the pace of science.

To promote the rapid dissemination of new research, bioRxiv and medRxiv depend on Affiliates who help screen manuscripts. Affiliates are active scientists who volunteer their time to quickly determine whether submitted articles include biological research and do not have the potential to cause harm to the public. Thanks to affiliates we can continue sharing new research within ~48h of submission.
